Mexibear is our next subject, and sixth of 12 in our pre-Thanksgiving customer profile series.
If someone asked me to come up with one word to describe Mexibear, I'd fail - what word combines the meaning of the words funny and charming? With a brilliant smile, he radiates something super special - others are drawn to him. In our questionnaire, he sings of his humble roots in Ohio, his lust for Beethoven, Moscow Mules and Captain Janeway.
Where are you from? Originally from a small town in Ohio called Port Clinton. If you don't know where that is, it's close to Toledo. After my sophomore year in high school, I moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan where I lived until moving to Hawaii 6 years ago. How long have you lived in Hawaii? Whoops, answered this one too early. I have been on this wonderful island for 6 and 1/2 years. What is your relationship status? I am single. What are your favorite qualities in a man? That he can cook and make me smile! HA HA HA. Those things are great, but I really like a man who is respectful to me, my friends and my family. I was raised to treat others as you want to be treated and I believe this is an important quality to have. A man who can communicate his needs is especially important when navigating through any type of relationship. Someone who likes/loves kids is a bonus since I come as a package deal! And finally, someone who likes to be fun and spontaneous.
What are your chief characteristics? I would say that I'm fun-loving. I like to have a good time, but also like to make sure others are as well. Hard-working and dedicated to things that are important to me. Outgoing and open to new ideas. I get along with everyone. It is always fun getting to know new people and learning about them. What do you appreciate most about your friends? I love my friends! They are really a great bunch of guys. That being said, I appreciate how honest and supportive they are through everything. I don't think there's been a time where I felt abandoned by them. What's your idea of happiness? My idea of happiness would be living out in a house somewhere, with my son, in the countryside. I will say that even though I still want to be near a city. Not to leave anyone out - but I would love to have my family and friends close, but not too close by as well. As an added bonus to the happiness, it would be wonderful to share that dream with a special someone. What is your idea of misery? Besides the movie, Misery? On a side note, that movie was good and one of my favorites. Back to the question, misery would be a life without my son. I could not see having my life without him at all. He has been a big part of who I am and who I have become. If you weren't yourself, who would you like to be? Long ago I was a music major- so this question brought me immediately to one of my favorites - Beethoven. He was perhaps one of the most influential composers of his time. His music bordered on the classical and romantic eras. To have the talent of creating wonderful music would be a delight. Although...he did lose the majority of his hearing during his lifetime....that experience would be otherworldly. Where else in the world would you like to live? I would love to live in London. It' an amazing city with so much history. PLUS- it would be easy to travel to other European countries. Who are your favorite heroes in fiction? James Bond, Harry Potter, Superman, Skeletor and Captain Janeway to name a few.
What talent would you like to be gifted with? Singing! Although, after a few adult beverages, I actually think that I can carry a tune. Joking! I promised not to say this, but I am an award winning shower and car singer. Just try not to listen too hard. What's your favorite drink? I love a good Moscow Mule. What would you tell others about Bacchus Waikiki? It's a great place to meet new people. I have always felt welcomed and at home there. It was one of the first gay bars that I ever went to. They don't know this, but I always made sure to tell people to go check it out especially if they are visiting and the staff is awesome! (THANKS!) Anything else you'd like to add? I like to laugh and joke around - it's good for the soul. I am learning to play flag football with our very own Hawaii Gay Flag Football League. I was one of the guys to help get it started and have remained with them for 3 years. It's a lot of fun and you meet some amazing guys that turn into even more amazing friends.
