Splash some water on your face! Wake up! The weekend will be here before you know it. And today is 2-4-1 Wednesday at Bacchus. Are you going to stick to your routine favorite cocktails or try something new. Our recommendation:
Order a Manhattan
Traditional views insist that a Manhattan be made with American rye whisky. However, more often than not, it is made with bourbon or Canadian whisky (that's right, no 'e' in the Canadian spelling). The Manhattan is subject to considerable variation and innovation, and is often a way for the best bartenders to show off their creativity.
Traditional (Regular) Manhattan Recipe:
1 part vermouth
1 part whiskey (or whisky or bourbon)
Dash of bitters (Angostura Bitters are the most common)
Shake with ice and serve in an ice cold glass with a cherry garnish.
To make it Perfect:
Use 1/2 sweet vermouth and 1/2 dry vermouth
There are Cuban Manhattans (with dark Rum), Tijuana Manhattans (with añejo tequila), Brandy Manhattans and Rob Roys (with Scotch whisky). Other variations may include a garnish with bourbon-soaked cherries or a lemon peel.
