Lazy, Hazy, Crazy Days of Summer…

It's official. Summer is here (as if it ever leaves). Spring has sprung and winter is eventually coming (but it's as far off as our sympathy for Ramsay Bolton).

We welcome the summer solstice at 12:34pm HST today. And we'll be serving up delicious $3 margaritas all day. Tonight is TRIVIA NIGHT with a special tribute to suns, sons, sunnys, sonnys, and songs about summer.

TRIVIA SAMPLER
Can you identify these summer songs from their lyrics? (answers below)

  1. Nobody on the road, nobody on the beach. I feel it in the air, the summer's out of reach…
  2. Hot summer streets and the pavements are burning I sit around trying to smile but the air is so heavy and dry…
  3. I got my first real six-string. Bought it at the five-and-dime. Played it till my fingers bled…
  4. Callin' out around the world are you ready for a brand new beat? Summer's here and the time is right…
  5. See the curtains hangin' in the window in the evenin' on a Friday night. Little light is shinin' through the window, lets me know everything's all right…

Another rare occurrence today: a full moon on the summer solstice. It's the first time that's happened in over 50 years. All you star gazers take a moment out of your day and behold the full moon, low on the horizon....perhaps use that telescope you've got by your window....

We welcome summer in all it's glory!

Enjoy your summer at Bacchus.

TRIVIA ANSWERS

1. Boys of Summer - Don Henley

2. Cruel Summer - Bananarama

3. Summer of '69 - Bryan Adams

4. Dancin' In The Street - Various (originally Martha and The Vandellas)

5. Summer Breeze - Seals & Crofts

Do you know the lyrics to these songs? What do Seals & Crofts mean when they say the "Summer Breeze makes me feel fine blowin' through the jasmine in my mind." How about Bananarama's strange voices: "What did they say?" Or other summer songs…like when Mungo Jerry ponders the women on his mind In The Summertime with, "If her daddy's rich…" And the Lovin' Spoonful's Summer in the City when the pavement is "hotter than a matchhead."
What interesting LYRICS. ;-)
