Going out and having a few drinks with your friends is fun, but getting drunk can lead to bad decisions and feeling miserable the next day. Here’s a few tips on how to enjoy your cocktail(s). And, a reminder that today, at Bacchus, our drink special is 2-4-1 well drinks and $2 off call drinks.
Savor both the flavor and the aroma of your cocktail instead of downing it. It doesn’t matter if it’s expensive or not, make it an enjoyable drink. Whatever it is, appreciate its nuances slowly.
Bring the glass to your lips every now and then and tilt it. Instead of drinking, however, simply inhale the aroma.
Taste the drink as you swallow it. If it’s not worth tasting then it's not worth drinking.
Everyone has a different alcohol tolerance, so drink for yourself, not to prove something or keep up with a buddy.
Speaking of buddies, did you know that the show Friends was originally going to be called Insomnia Café? Trivia buffs should. :-)
A good way to pace yourself is to eat. Food, contrary to popular belief, does not prevent you from getting drunk. It can, however, slow down the time it takes the booze to make it to your brain. Eating also fills you up and prevents you from downing drinks in the interim.
At Bacchus, we have a simple menu of 3 or 4 sandwiches (try the roast beef special) and 3 or 4 pizzas (the meatball pizza is delicious). Order one up and it’s ready within 5 minutes.
Make moderation your best friend. Drinking responsibly is your best bet.
