It’s Flag Day.
Sure, today is for celebrating the flag of the USA, but at Bacchus we know Flag Day means more. And, since it’s Thursday, all tequila is $5; all day and all night!
Flags identify who we are - where we belong. LGBT, USA, State of Hawaii, Nation of Hawaii, leather community, bear community, transgender community, etc.
Even the old hankie code was a way to ‘flag’ - identifying your sexual proclivities (remember, right pocket means ‘receptive’).
When you “wave the flag,” it means you stand up for, support, or defend someone or something.
At Bacchus, we stand up for the rights of all with a specific focus on the LGBTQ community. Since we opened our doors in 2011, we welcome all. A propos example: we’ve been an ardent support of Hawaii Gay Flag Football League since their inception. Come watch their games with us this coming weekend.
When you “let your freak flag fly,” it means not to hide your eccentricity, your nonconformity.
Join us for RuPaul’s Drag Race at 5PM today! The top 4 compete in a lip sync battle to determine the finalists. Nobody loses, but it’s sure as hell gonna be an interesting ride!
The “freak flag” expression comes from the hippie era in American culture, in the late 1960s, when men in the trivial “counterculture” wore their hair long. The hippies sometimes humorously referred to themselves as “freaks,” because they saw themselves as very different from mainstream culture. The long hair or unusual clothing would be the metaphorical “freak flag.”
Being unique is a GOOD THING! You are a powerful force in the universe.
Believe in your greatness, and be proud of who you are!
And come to Bacchus today for Booze, Music, Food, Fun including $5 tequila from open to last call and RuPaul’s Drag Race at 5PM.
