Finding The Right One (or Two)

‘Two-fers!’ and ‘Save a few bucks!’ Those are the drink specials on Wednesdays. Get 2-4-1 well drinks and $2 off call drinks today/tonight at Bacchus. DJ Takai spins at 10PM. No cover.

Some people love belonging to a clique, a group, and even sometimes a common mentality.

Just look at how successful bear weeks, circuit parties, lesbian weekends, cruises oriented toward certain groups are within our community. Others may feel the division of our rainbow family into groups will just lead to internal strife and separation. Locals may refer to groups as having an affinity for a particular bar, location, activity or sport. It’s a small community; there’s lots of overlap between groups.

At Bacchus you are accepted for being you. We know that every gay man and woman has a unique experience and we can only get more enriched by getting to know you.

Speaking of unique experiences...check out this article from Out.com about 20 High School Films every queer teen should see. It starts like this:

Bullies. Cliques. Mean girls. Insecurities. Cafeteria food. The high school experience can be rough — especially for LGBTQ kids who may be struggling with their sexual identities while trying to fit in.

If you were among one of the cliques that were the outcasts in high school, then being gay only compounded your stress. You may find someone to identify in one of the movies the article recommends. But, if you don’t, you have realized now that It Gets Better.

I believe in a world where hope outshines fear. I commit to stand up and speak out against hate and intolerance.

That's the opening salvo of the pledge of to belong to the not-so-trivial 2010 movement started by Dan Savage and Terry Miller. The It Gets Better Project is a nonprofit organization with a mission to uplift, empower, and connect lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer youth around the globe. Check out the stories and maybe contribute your own.

We LGBTQ members of the world are our own clique or group. We have many differences, but happily, we share a common mentality.

Go ahead and wear pink to Bacchus on Wednesdays. But no Mean Girls allowed!
Share your story with the staff, friends old and new at Bacchus today. 2-4-1 well cocktails, $2 off call drinks, $7 flatbread pizzas and sandwiches. DJ Takai at 10PM. No cover. ;-)
