LeiBear Day Weekend revelers met up at Bacchus yesterday before (and after) a sail out on Malama Bay. What a wonderful time. Below are some photos from the event.
It’s Labor Day! We all know that via folklore, and a great scene in Serial Mom, that you’re not supposed to wear white after Labor Day!
Silly rules develop over time and as the result of something that has occurred in a community. Historically, the rules were religious - the rabbis declared that Jews could not eat pork (probably because people were getting sick from diseased animals) and could not mix meat and dairy (because of digestive issues that most likely occur from unpasteurized milk, etc.).
Sometimes legislators in the United States get a little carried away, as evidenced by these silly trivial laws that are still on the books.
In Fairbanks, Alaska, it is illegal to serve alcohol to a moose.
In San Francisco, California, it is illegal to wipe your car with used underwear. So, is it okay to use clean underwear?
In Quitman, Georgia, it's illegal to change the clothes on a storefront mannequin unless the shades are down.
In Boston, Massachusetts, it's illegal to take a bath unless one has been ordered by a physician to do so.
In Minnesota, women may face 30 days in jail for impersonating Santa Claus.
In Hornytown, North Carolina, it's illegal to open a massage parlor.
In Oxford, Ohio, it is illegal for a woman to disrobe in front of a man's picture. Is it legal if his eyes are closed in the photo?
In Seattle, Washington, women who sit on men's laps on buses or trains without placing a pillow between them face an automatic six-month jail term.
In Nicholas County, West Virginia, no clergy member may tell jokes or humorous stories from the pulpit during church services.
In St. Croix, Wisconsin, women are not allowed to wear anything red in public.
We have to wonder what actually had happened to piss off a legislator (or angry mob) to actually write/approve or pass the laws above. It makes the mind wander!
Speaking of your mind….use it tonight at Bacchus and win!
